A work in progress from Samphran, Thailand. This is Thor's Helmet, an emission nebula in Canis Major. The nebula is about 12,000 light years from Earth.
This image includes data from our remote telescope in Texas; this is the first image for which we have combined data from the USA and Thailand. The time for shooting this object this season is past. We plan to patiently wait for next season to shoot more, and produce an improved image.
Texas data collected at the Dark Sky Observatory Collaborative (DSOC) in Ft. Davis, TX using SC Observatory's remote Planewave CDK 17" f/6.8 scope, in collaboration with:
John Kasianowicz, Josh Balsam, Mike Selby, Dhaval Brahmbhatt, Scott Johnson, Mike Bushell, Rich Johnson.
Thailand data collected at SC Observatory by the SC Observatory team.
